I’ll start this post with a confession: I emptied 1/3 of my Spirul G green juice into the drain last night. I couldn’t bear to take the last sip. I hope I haven’t let you down.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I woke up this morning thinking I’m SO over this cleanse. Despite this notion, I’m excited to share that I’m 1.5 juices away from finishing my three-day juice cleanse. When I finish, I’ll have consumed 18 juices and spent $165 and change. Apparently being healthy doesn’t come cheap these days.
I ended Day One and Day Two with Spirul G, and since it’s my least favorite of the juices, I chose to end Day Three on a good note with Too Legit. Tonight I’m going to take a nice hot bath to release a few more toxins. I may even complete the cleanse with a massage tomorrow.
On Saturday, I’m finally allowed to start introducing foods back into my diet. That means for breakfast I’ll have yogurt, for lunch a smoothie and for dinner something like split pea soup. By Monday, I can actually eat steamed veggies. I’m very excited to eat steamed veggies and can already picture broccoli, carrots and string beans in a bowl. Heaven.
Although I may have “cheated” by emptying a small amount of juice, I’m proud of myself for completing the cleanse and not giving in to cravings or temptations. There’s always candy and treats and leftovers from catered lunches around the office that I completely neglected not to mention the fresh fruits and glorious cheeses at my apartment. It was weird to say “I haven’t eaten anything in three days” out loud.
I also learned a few things along the way. One must be mentally and physically prepared to handle the body’s reactions. It’s not just some thing that you decide to do and start all willy nilly like. If you’re going to do it, do your research first. You can’t just wake up one day and start a juice cleanse. I frequently felt cold, so if I were to ever cleanse again, I’d wait until spring or summer. Cleansing is hard; I whined a lot.
I honestly can’t really tell if I feel better. Maybe I’ll experience results in the days to come. I have, however, noticed that my skin feels softer, so that’s good news. I hope the benefits just keep coming.
That said, I’ve certainly satisfied my curiosity. My goal is to continue eating healthily and making better decisions when it comes to the foods I consume. I’d also like to consider incorporating a daily juice into my diet. Who knows, maybe I’ll feel motivated to juice at home. My roommate has a juicer that she’s always offered up.
We’ll see! One of my coworkers asked if there were any foods that I missed, and truthfully, I haven’t missed a darn thing. I am, however, looking forward to either a cupcake or brownie sundae once I get back in the swing of things. What? I earned it!
